The sun shines brightly on Memorial Day in Stowe this year. Not only is the weather perfect but visitors and locals alike are enjoying the green grass, fresh leaves and spring flowers.  Each day I walk with my little dog, Lily, on the recreation path for about half an hour in the middle of the day. She gets a good run in the morning but needs to stretch her legs again around lunch time.  We meet dog friends, people friends and new acquaintances each time. Families of bicyclists of all ages are out taking the air. There are roller-bladers, strollers, babies in carriages and of course, dog lovers, travelling at varying speeds down the path.  Some stop for a chat, others just nod as they speed by and the dogs all have to stop and sniff every few feet.  At certain points along the way, the Quiet Path, for walkers and dogs only, intersects and an opportunity to let the dos off leash to play is enjoyed by many.

Visitors to Stowe love it! Many dream of retiring here. Others try to find a way to relocate and raise their children in this healthy environment.  Most have a house to sell in another state and can only wait patiently until the housing market regains momentum and credit

loosens up.  But we are seeing some encouraging signs.  We are not out of the woods yet but there seems to be a growing confidence that the worst is behind us. Some are seeing this as an opportunity to buy. Mortgage rates are very low and there is money to borrow for those with good credit.  Prices have moderated and there are deals to be made. I am confident that we will look back and wonder why more people didn’t grab at the chance.
